Le Stefan Orins New Trio inaugure une aventure musicale à part entière. S’il porte le nom du pianiste et compositeur lillois, il ne s’inscrit pas comme la continuité du trio originel : il s’agit d’un projet distinct, pensé pour une esthétique renouvelée et une dynamique de jeu différente.

Autour du piano de Stefan Orins, deux musiciens redéfinissent les contours de son écriture :

Gauthier Dubuis, contrebassiste à la sonorité ample et mélodieuse, apporte une profondeur souple et chantante qui nourrit en permanence le dialogue.

Tristan Orins, batteur dont le jeu équilibré, énergique et finement nuancé a inspiré la conception même de ce nouveau répertoire.

En effet, de nouvelles compositions ont été spécialement écrites pour cette formation, imaginées pour mettre en valeur la complémentarité du trio. 

Le nouveau Stefan Orins Trio affirme ainsi sa personnalité propre : une formation réinventée, portée par trois voix qui construisent ensemble une musique sensible, libre et profondément vivante.

Introducing the New Stefan Orins Trio

The new Stefan Orins Trio is starting an exciting musical journey. Although it carries the name of pianist and composer Stefan Orins from Lille, this trio is not just a continuation of the original group. It’s a fresh project with a new style and a different way of playing together.

Joining Stefan Orins on piano are two talented musicians:

Gauthier Dubuis plays the double bass with a rich, melodic sound, adding depth and warmth that keeps the musical conversation flowing.

Tristan Orins is on drums, bringing energy and delicate balance to the music, which inspired the creation of new pieces especially for this trio.

These new songs are designed to showcase how well the trio’s sounds blend together. The new Stefan Orins Trio has its own unique style, with three voices coming together to create music that’s heartfelt, free, and full of life.

Review about Stefan Orins Jazz Trio in Holešov

CZ: Že se koncertní řady cyklů Musica Holešov nezaměřují jen na jedno hudební období či žánr, je známá věc. Nepřekvapilo proto, že na čtvrteční večer 26. března bylo angažováno Stefan Orins Jazz Trio. Jeho klasické složení tvoří pánové Stefan Orins u klavíru, za bicími sedí jeho bratr Tristan a na kontrabas hrál Gauthier Dubuis. 

Zařadit jejich hudbu, typicky jazzovou, je velmi obtížné. Anonce předcházející koncertům tohoto uskupení hovoří o tzv. „severském stylu jazzu“. I samotný Stefan Orins však hovoří o různých inspiracích, mj. i Keitha Jarretta, ale i dalších, především skandinávských autorů. Jejich skladby vycházejí z jednoduché klavírní melodiky, která však má mnohé podoby. Stefan si pomáhá k vytváření nových zvuků pomocí „samplování“ strun levou rukou. Ve spojením s oběma spoluhráči dosahují tyto zvuky nebývalé atraktivity. Překvapí nás také jejich souhra, to i v momentech, kdy bez tradičních hudebních zvyků přecházejí do tempových změn. Zaujala i tato tempová dvouvládí, kdy klavír a basa hrály v jiném tempu než bubeník, a přece celek šlapal jako hodinky. Muzikanti dali jasně najevo, že tempové intermezzo je chtěné, cílené a vede posluchače k překvapení. 

I buberník Tristan používal různých fines, aby posluchače překvapil. Překrytím bubnů textiliemi dosahoval příjemné zvukové nuance, stejně tak, když použil různé typy paliček současně. Často se spojoval s basistou v rytmických pasážích a vytvářeli působivá hudební překvapení. Kdo od Stefan Orins Tria očekával tradiční jazzové orgie plné riffů, čekal marně. Severský jazz je jiný, ale stejně působivý. Klavírista vytvářel jemné, jako by zasněné, melodie, podpíral je však typickou jazzovou harmonií. 

Ač to ještě krátce před koncertem nevypadalo, sala terrena holešovského zámku se zaplnila do posledního místa. Překvapila poměrně velká účast mladých posluchačů, studentů středních škol z Holešova i Bystřice. Jejich účast považuji za zvlášť povzbudivou. Vždyť návštěva podobných koncertů v nich snad vzbudí upřímný a opravdový zájem o kvalitní hudbu. Věřím, že je to i jeden z původních záměrů pořadatelské Musicy Holešov. Skromné vystupování Stefan Orins Jazz Tria, jejich kvalitní hudba i nenucené příjemné prostředí a atmosféra večera, oslovily všechny posluchače a zanechaly v nich hezký umělecký zážitek.

EN: It is a well-known fact that the concert series of Musica Holešov do not focus on just one musical period or genre. It was therefore not surprising that the Stefan Orins Jazz Trio was engaged on Thursday evening, March 26. Its classic composition consists of Stefan Orins at the piano, his brother Tristan on drums, and Gauthier Dubuis on double bass. 

It is very difficult to classify their music, which is typically jazz. The announcements preceding the concerts of this group speak of the so-called “Nordic style of jazz”. However, Stefan Orins himself speaks of various inspirations, including Keith Jarrett, but also other, mainly Scandinavian, authors. Their compositions are based on simple piano melodies, which, however, have many forms. Stefan helps himself to create new sounds by “sampling” the strings with his left hand. In combination with both partners, these sounds achieve unprecedented attractiveness. We will also be surprised by their interplay, even in moments when they switch to tempo changes without traditional musical habits. This tempo duality was also interesting, when the piano and bass played at a different tempo than the drummer, and yet the whole thing ran like clockwork. The musicians made it clear that the tempo intermezzo is intentional, targeted and leads the listener to surprise. Drummer Tristan also used various finesse to surprise the listener. By covering the drums with textiles, he achieved pleasant sound nuances, as well as when he used different types of mallets simultaneously. He often joined forces with the bassist in rhythmic passages and they created impressive musical surprises. Anyone who expected traditional jazz orgies full of riffs from the Stefan Orins Trio was waiting in vain. Nordic jazz is different, but just as impressive. The pianist created delicate, as if dreamy, melodies, but supported them with typical jazz harmony. 

Although it didn't look like it shortly before the concert, the sala terrena of the Holešov castle was filled to capacity. The relatively large turnout of young listeners, high school students from Holešov and Bystřice, was surprising. I find their participation particularly encouraging. After all, attending similar concerts will hopefully arouse in them a sincere and genuine interest in quality music. I believe that this is also one of the original intentions of the organizer Musica Holešov. The modest performance of the Stefan Orins Jazz Trio, their quality music and the relaxed, pleasant environment and atmosphere of the evening, appealed to all listeners and left them with a nice artistic experience.

FR: Il est bien connu que la programmation de Musica Holešov ne se limite pas à une seule période ou un seul genre musical. Il n'est donc pas surprenant que le Stefan Orins Jazz Trio ait été programmé le jeudi 26 mars au soir. Ce trio classique est composé de Stefan Orins au piano, de son frère Tristan à la batterie et de Gauthier Dubuis à la contrebasse. 

Il est très difficile de classer leur musique, typiquement jazz. Les annonces précédant les concerts de ce groupe parlent de « jazz nordique ». Cependant, Stefan Orins lui-même évoque diverses inspirations, notamment Keith Jarrett, mais aussi d'autres compositeurs, principalement scandinaves. Leurs compositions sont basées sur des mélodies de piano simples, qui se déclinent néanmoins en de nombreuses formes. Stefan crée de nouveaux sons en « échantillonnant » les cordes avec sa main gauche. Combinées avec ses deux partenaires, ces sonorités atteignent une richesse inédite. Leur interaction est également surprenante, même lorsqu'ils changent de tempo de manière inattendue. Cette dualité de tempo était d'autant plus intéressante que le piano et la basse jouaient à un tempo différent de celui du batteur, et pourtant, l'ensemble était d'une précision horlogère. Les musiciens ont clairement indiqué que cet intermède de tempo était intentionnel, ciblé et destiné à surprendre l'auditeur. Le batteur Tristan a également usé de diverses finesses pour surprendre le public. En recouvrant sa batterie de textiles, il obtenait d'agréables nuances sonores, tout comme lorsqu'il utilisait simultanément différents types de mailloches. Il s'associait souvent au bassiste dans les passages rythmiques, créant ainsi d'impressionnantes surprises musicales. Ceux qui s'attendaient à des orgies de jazz traditionnelles, débordantes de riffs, de la part du Stefan Orins Trio furent déçus. Le jazz nordique est différent, mais tout aussi impressionnant. Le pianiste créait des mélodies délicates, presque oniriques, soutenues par une harmonie jazz typique. 

Bien que cela n'en paraisse pas peu avant le concert, la salle de spectacle du château de Holešov était comble. La présence relativement importante de jeunes auditeurs, lycéens de Holešov et Bystřice, a été surprenante. Leur participation est particulièrement encourageante. Après tout, assister à des concerts de ce genre devrait susciter chez eux un intérêt sincère et authentique pour la musique de qualité. Je crois que c'est d'ailleurs l'une des intentions initiales de l'organisateur, Musica Holešov. La prestation sobre du Stefan Orins Jazz Trio, la qualité de leur musique et l'atmosphère détendue et agréable de la soirée ont séduit tous les auditeurs et leur ont offert une belle expérience artistique.
